The Office of Military and Veterans Resources is your one-stop-shop for all things “military” at Bloomsburg University. The office is open to anyone; we typically deal with current and former military members, spouses or dependents of service members, and anyone who is a military supporter. We have a dedicated lounge space for people to relax in; we have coffee, computers, and good company.

Through the Office of Military and Veterans Resources, former and current military students and spouses/dependents are able to get assistance when enrolling in different forms of financial assistance, through the benefits they receive from their respected branch of service. These include the GI Bill, Federal Tuition Assistance, and the Educational Assistance Program.

Not only can the office help you enroll into these programs but they can also assist you with any issues you are having. Not only can students get help with these benefits, but they can also get help from a military specific Academic Advisor; Bob Heckrote.

Different people, with different backgrounds, and different goals are always around the Office; this provides the ability for the Office to grow and expand, provide everyone the ability to network with one another, get help with school work, coordinate events, learn about one another, and also make the Office as well as the rest of campus, a better place to BU.

Most importantly, the Office of Military and Veterans Resources is here for YOU and is ready to assist you in your venture into higher education!

Military Students Lounge

Student Veterans Lounge

One of the most common issues veterans face after coming home from a military deployment or after leaving active service is a sense of being lost and alone. These feelings can become even more magnified in the academic setting, especially for new student veterans. The Military Students Lounge is located in Student Services Center 204. It is a safe place for military members and veteran supporters to come together and socialize, network, relax and gather information relevant to their specific needs.

The lounge is staffed by military members who are knowledgeable of specific military needs and solutions. The lounge has been said to have the feel of a barracks environment, where student veterans often report leaving the lounge feeling happy and supported. The veteran lounge is open Monday through Thursday, 8: a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the academic year. There is a CAC reader, microwave, mini-fridge with free water and soda (when available), free coffee and space to relax or study. The Veterans Affairs Office, BUSVA and the lounge staff are always trying to improve the amenities available in the lounge, stop by and get to know your military family.
